Starting 21 August 2025, ICANN will implement new rules for domain registration data handling. These changes aim to improve security and standardize data across registrars and registries.

Key Changes:

  • THIN Data Model:
Some registries will now require only limited contact data. We will continue collecting all 4 contact types (Registrant, Admin, Tech, Billing) but will only send the data required by each registry.

  • Organization Field = Legal Owner:

    • If the Organization field is filled, that organization will be considered the legal owner of the domain.

    • If it is blank, the individual listed will be the owner.

    • The Organization field, if provided, will be redacted by default in WHOIS/RDAP.

  • Client Area Notifications:
The domain management area will display a notice about the redaction of the Organization field and provide an option for clients to opt in to publish their organization details if they wish.

What Management Sites Ltd is Doing:

  • Updating storefronts, control panels, and APIs to meet the new requirements.

  • Adding clear in-panel notifications before the policy takes effect.

  • Updating API documentation to reflect the changes.

What You Need to Do:

  • No action is required at this time.

  • We recommend reminding customers about the importance of the Organization field.
